“Best Bar None,” a program promoting higher customer service and public safety standards in liquor-licensed establishments, has expanded to Calgary. All Class A Minors-Prohibited venues in the city can apply for accreditation.

Program benefits

Best Bar None accreditation allows businesses to show commitment to providing an entertaining and safe evening out. By participating in the program, restaurants can expect these benefits:

  • a positive public image;
  • potential for increased patronage and profits;
  • reduced risk of alcohol-related harm in and around their premises; and
  • improved employee morale.

How to qualify

To receive accreditation, applicants must meet specific standards related to safe operations and responsible management, including:
  • responsible liquor service;
  • staff training;
  • compliance to regulations; and
  • community engagement.

Win an award!

In addition to accreditation, all establishments going above and beyond in efforts to improve their business operations will be considered for an award. Awards recognize licensed establishments in five different categories:

  • pubs;
  • large pubs (capacity 245+);
  • bars/lounges;
  • hotel/ restaurant lounges; and
  • clubs.
To be considered for an award, please apply by Feb. 27, 2012. For more information, click here.
