Saskatchewan WCB rates increase

Despite CRFA’s appeal to the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB), the 2012 rate for restaurants increased from $0.97 to $1.01 per $100 of insurable earnings, effective Jan.1. The primary reasons for this rate hike are:
  • a significant increase in the budget request of the Service & Hospitality Safety Association (SHSA); and
  • a province-wide rise in fatality claims.
CRFA will be meeting with the Hon. Don Morgan, Minister responsible for the WCB, to discuss options to ensure restaurateurs do not face similar rate increases in the future.
